Are there statistics available for lifetime cancer rates of nuclear sub crew members?
I've done some basic on-line searches but haven't found anything. I'd be interested to know this as a lay person trying to make sense of the ongoing debates about nuclear power. It seems to me that crew members on nuclear subs spend months at a time in a small enclosed space with a reactor close by, so comparing their cancer rates with those of the general population would have to say a lot about whether radiation risks associated with nuclear power are manageable with current technology. Surely someone has studied this? Anyone have a link?
